  • Important Info

  • For the Sacred Valley Tour with Zip Line Included, pick up will be at 7:30am in our private van and travel begin to the village of Chinchero,  see an adobe colonial church, dating from the early seventeenth century, the church has been built on the foundations of an Inca temple. The ceiling and walls are covered in beautiful floral and religious designs. Also discover Inca archeological ruins and agricultural terraces, which are attributed to Inca Tupac Yupanqui who possibly used Chinchero as a kind of country resort.

Our next activity is the fascinating ZIPLINE experience. Soar through the skies of the Sacred Valley for an exhilarating ride.  Our hilltop-to-hilltop zipline tour is an amazing adrenalin rush for thrill seekers. From Racchi Point (3 733m/12 247) indulge your senses in breathtaking panoramic views of the Sacred Valley. The lines vary in distance, ranging from 400 to 600m. Allowing you time to enjoy the landscape, while experiences a full flying sensation. Enjoy stunning views of the Sacred Valley with snow-capped mountain peaks, lush valleys and the river gently below.

    Maras

Continuing on our journey to the colonial town of Maras, we look down onto the pre-Inca salt “mines,” called salineras in Spanish. The thousands of salt pans have been passed down through countless generations and used for salt extraction since before Inca times. A hot spring at the top of the valley discharges a small stream of heavily salt laden water, which is diverted into salt pans and evaporated to produce salt. This is one of the few places in the world where you can find naturally pink salt!

    Ollantaytambo

Finally, we drive to Ollantaytambo, taking the time to explore the Inca village that has remained intact since Inca times and the massive Inca Ruins, with a tour provided by our guide. Visit the massive architecture of the Sun Temple at the top of the formidable terraces and learn about the importance of this site for the Inca during the beginning of the Spanish conquest. Once the tour is done we will drive you back to your hotel in Cusco.

    Ziplining through the Sacred Valley

The tour comes with all the necessary safety equipment. Included in the tour is a harness, helmet and gloves, which we recommend you keep on at all times. It’s an activity that suitable for all age groups. Along the way you will pass a suspension bridge, which required balance and a bit of upper body strength. Before starting your Zipline, a profession guide gives a safety briefing and advice on ways to maximize the fun factor of this experience.

Zipline is a high adrenaline activity and you will be strapped with ropes and harness. For these reasons we recommend that people with heart problems, serious medical conditions or pregnant women not attempt this.

We were short on time during our trip to Peru, so we decided to do the 1-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Everything was very well organised. We were collected from our hotel and taken to the train, where our journey to the trail began. The first part of the hike was a bit challenging, but it was absolutely worth it. The views of the mountains and the surrounding nature were breathtaking. Reaching the Sun Gate and seeing Machu Picchu for the first time was incredible. After the tour, we were taken back by train and dropped off at our hotel. I would highly recommend this hike to anyone visiting Peru, especially if you're short on time but still want to experience the Inca Trail. I also highly recommend our guide, Antonio. He was brilliant, incredibly knowledgeable, and shared so much interesting information about Machu Picchu, its history, and the local flora throughout the trek. He also allowed us to take breaks whenever we needed them.

I did the Rainbow Mountain tour, and I was the only one in the group who walked up the mountain. My guide Henry stayed with me the whole way, encouraging me and taking lots of photos along the trail. A truly great experience.

We had an amazing time with Henry our guide on our trek to Rainbow Mountian. With an early pick we left Cusco for the long car ride to Rainbow mountain with a quick stop for breakfast. When we got there Henry helped us reserve horses (highly recommend) and we started towards the mountain. The terrain, snow capped mountains and sediment settlement are a treat to see but it is worth the 10 extra minutes to the top. Because we had the horses we were able to take a long time at the top to take in all of the beautiful wonders. Henry allowed us time to explore and gave us wonderful information about how this beautiful wonder was formed. We definitely got more than our money's worth out of this gem!

Following a great 2-day Inca Trail experience with SAM Travel, I signed up for the one-day Rainbow Mountain + Red Valley trek. Once again our group was small, just 4 people. Junior was our guide - he was friendly and knowledgeable. He seamlessly adjusted to our request for an earlier start time to beat the crowds, and also managed varying group member speeds / fitness levels well. Another positive experience with SAM Travel - highly recommend booking with them, especially if you are a solo traveler.

Rainbow mountain hike provided for gorgeous views, bunch of alpaca. At up to 5000 meters it provided for a healthy challenge even if the profile does not look that impressive…. Our guide - Cesar Siccos - was with us the whole way and provided the necessary support to get over the challenge. Great day out.
